You are going to love the Wall Street Journal's opinion this morning.

********

As a footnote, Florida's horror show probably means that virtually every voting precinct in America is going to be subjected to a national effort to clean up voter fraud, inefficiency and abuse. Guess which party is least likely to benefit from that reform.

Purely at the level of political melodrama, it's hard not to sympathize with the Gore camp's excitement at the sight of the Bush vote total dropping as another 10 or 20 dimpled votes get squeezed out of Florida's overly ripe ballots. Al Gore thinks he can smell a win, and now intends to blow by the Harris certification and contest the election. Somewhere there must be Democrats who recognize that letting the Supreme Court hear this case on Friday is not in the long-term interests of their party.
