Medunite announced it's plans today, but they are a long way from implementation. When was the last time you saw an innovative, efficient and technologically advanced insurance company. Medunite's desire to get into the game, just proves how much money there is to be made. Even if medunite was ready to go they face one huge obstacle--doctors, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals hate insurance companies because they are constantly questioning them and telling them what to do. HLTH is an impartial third party just trying to improve connectivity and increase efficiency in the fragmented and inefficient health care sector. If you listen to the conference call Marty said the tech shake out although hurting HLTH has virtually eliminated the competition. Medunite may eventually be a player but unless they can untie themselves from their parents (insurance companies) they will always have a hidden agenda. Marty Wygood is a respected buisnessman and is continuing to bring more expertise and credibility to WEBMD. The brand recognition, cash on hand and all the services they can offer to the health care community gives HLTH a tremendous lead over some too little, too late, conglomerate with too many tillers, no oars and no trust or technology.
