That appears to be the case. And even so, AMD is taking it very slowly and carefully.

Intel, meanwhile, has no choice but to jump over the concurrent .13/copper cliff and hope for a soft landing.

P4 looks like it was a solid single, but Intel was really hoping for quite a bit more. Athlon on DDR was another solid single leaving the two roughly tied once again. Next up is Palamino, which should put AMD solidly back in front. AMD is in pretty good shape just with Thunderbird, how much better off will they be with Palamino next quarter? How long is the wait for Norwood?

The hot ticket for Q1 will be DDR - even Intel is beginning to admit that. How long till Intel has some DDR support?

There is - unexpectedly - no need for AMD to take any process risks whatsoever right now. And, with the history of the K6-3 still clearly remembered, they won't.
