Scumbria-- Here is someone who disagrees with the Miami-Dade "treasure trove" theory, and presents a well-reasoned argument as to why (namely, based on the number of votes Gore picked up after the Miami-Dade partial recount in precincts that had > 70% Gore support, Gore is likely to have lost votes after the recount proceeded to the entire county):

It's from those scum at the Wall Street Journal editorial page, so it's probably not worth much.

RE:"You know perfectly well that a proper counting of votes in Miami would give Gore the win."

How do you know this?

OTOH, you should realize just how much the Gore Lawyers stacked the deck and still didn't have enough votes...
1. They picked 4 heavily Dem counties to recount.
2. Three of them, Dade, Broward and Palm Beach make up 25%
of the whole voting population of FL. Palm Beach and Broward are about 2:1 Democrat vs Pub. Dade about 6:5 Gore/Dem.
3. They picked 4 of the heaviest precincts in each to "test" for the right of a countywide recount...In Dade, this yielded only 6 more Gore votes, which were counted BTW.
That's SIX votes in 4 heavy Dem precincts...THATs why Dade said there was no need to count...
4. When the counties started their hand recount the most heavily Dem precincts were counted first to give the illusion there were a lot more ore votes to keep it going...
5. Boies lied to the FSC about Illinois accepting dimpled Chads. I'm sure they were not happy about this.
6. In Palm Beach county, where they didn't finish, because unlike Broward they took off for thanksgiving, when it became apparent they wouldn't finish, it's alledged that the 4 most Dem of the uncounted precincts were shuffled to the front, out of order, to be counted before the deadline.
7. They manufactured votes in Broward and Dade by interpreting voter intent. More so in Broward...
8. They sent out a memo informing counties just how to toss out absentee ballots, never mind it disenfranchised the military votes.

Through all this they still didn't come up with the votes...
