John, I have no doubt Deans article is based upon more recent info. What strikes me as odd is that Dean's article was written only 3 days after the P4 intro, and Intel already knew it had a dog on its hand. Why all of the " we are going to double our ramp speed" and "the P4 will have the faster ramp in history" BS. One wk. Intel is doubling the ramp and the next Intel is slowing it down. This kind of stuff tells me Craig doesn't have a clue about what he is doing. Imagine what all of the big investors think of this; when you have bet a big chunk of money on that fast ramp. And what about all of the analysts who claimed that the P4 was crucial to Intels future. What is the difference between Amd in 1998 and Intel in 2000; and does Intel really want that kind of reputation.
