I do not think that there was an adequate basis for resorting to a hand recount. He can request it, that does not mean that it should be granted. I do not think that hand counts are superior, except when there is actual machine malfunction or reasonable allegations of fraud. In fact, I think that hand recounts are inferior, given the danger of damaging chads through excessive handling, the opportunity for bias in the dimpled chad standard, and the added possibility of unscrupulous behavior on the part of counters in dislodging chads. Bush fought recount in those counties in order to avoid the real danger of having the election stolen, one way or another.

I do not, in fact, know all of the details of the dispute in Seminole County. If those ballots are judged disqualified by a competent authority, so be it.

The butterfly ballot was not illegal, and Buchanan's speculation is worthless. The ballots are invalid, and no court in the land will make a speculative assignment of votes. I await final adjudication, but those votes are certified.

I already stated the pointlessness of completing hand recounts. Since he will not have won due to Katherine Harris, as all of this has been, and continues to be, adjudicated, he will be quite legitimate. And I think you know this.........

<Neocon, isn't there a provision that if anyone assists anyone with making out an absentee ballot, that that individual must sign their signature noting they assisted the voter? So how then did that Republican functionary, with the laptop, get to touch over 4,000 Seminole County ballots without the voter's awareness? Will those Bush votes be eliminated by a court? Possible>

PT,

As I understand it was with the application for an absentee ballot and not the ballot it self. Check it for yourself.
