Very interesting. If the thesis is correct, that Greenspan is manipulating the Fed in order to influence the election, then he deserves to be replaced. Of course, sometimes Novak goes overboard with gossip.......

Given the benefit of retrospect in viewing time and circumstances, it looks like Greenspan may have raised interest rates one time too many. He did not give sufficient time for his prior increases to take effect and it looks like he has now engineered an over zealous downturn in the economy. The economic sense of well being has sunk with the huge decline in the markets. I think Greenspan blew it.
