Dear Lawdog and anyone else unfamiliar with the events:

OK, here are the FACTS.
Miami/Dade--Not once but TWICE the 3 person board voted NOT to recount. It was only after extreme pressure was put onto the members that TWO of them cracked and agreed to a recount BUT their hearts were NEVER in it. They cherry picked ONE black district and came up with a number of votes for Gore. Over 90% of the Cubans voted for Bush. Had they gone into those precincts the opposite would have occured for Bush. The Supreme Court of Fla. when it made its decision was well aware that Miami said they COULD NOT COMPLETE the count until early December AT THE BEST. So, when they set Sunday's date they knew in advance that ruled out Miami/Dade. I happen to believe the Supreme Court if they gave it any thought at all, believed BUSH ultimately would pick up more votes then Gore in Miami/Dade and so do the people who live down here.
Palm Beach--When the canvassing board began to recount they thought their were 6-8,000 disputed votes, actually there were 14,000 plus. Thus they erred in taking Thanksgiving off, however, even then they COULD have finished on time (they were only 2 hours late) but the Democrats hauled them into court AGAIN wasting valuable time arguing over the Judges previous ruling which had no effect on the decision making of the Board.

Conclusion: Gore and his team have NO INTENTION of seeing every vote counted in Fla. Their INTENTION is to attempt to have the Florida Electors denied participation in the Electoral College. THAT is the true goal. JDN

<<The more I think about it the more convinced I become that the GOP orchestrated a deal with the members of the Palm Beach and Miami-Dade canvassing boards. Otherwise it just doesn't add up.<<

Maybe what adds up is that Bush won? Dade is 50/50 on parties. Those 100 and some votes were from Democratic precincts and not the heavily Republicrat Cuban districts. Remember that Gore gave Elian away....

IT'S over-- the fat lady just needs to sing...

Why count took so long. An orchestrated strategy by the GOP to slow things down at every turn. Obviously. If the Supreme Court sees it that way then the deadline will be extended. That's also Gore's only real hope now. Unless the US Supreme Court gets involved or a judge gives them a win on one of the smaller cases. Stayed tuned. This ain't over yet. Harris's move was a no-news event IMHO.
