John:

"AMD not to release next-gen chip this quarter" - this is OLD NEWS. It was announced over two weeks ago at AMD's conference call.
Blithering idiot ANALists."

Intro of next generation chip, the palomino, I presume is what they are referring to, is not exactly a burning priority at the moment, given the bellyflopped intro. of the P4...I suspect that AMD's major current focus is providing retail quantities of the Athy/DDR combo...Success in this task, could easily result in a shift in company priorities to accommodate what could be enormous demand for this new "leading edge" product...If P4 intro had been at 2.0 gig and P4 benchmarks had demonstrated convincingly that it was competitive with the Athy, there might be a need to rush palomino to the market...That need evaporated with the competitively benign (euphemistically speaking) 1.4 gig P4 intro.

<Petz: Blithering idiot ANALists.>

If it is the old news, I definitely second that.

Of course, yahoo finance hasn't picked up on it yet... :/
