Ellen, I know you aren't a lawyer, but you aren't stupid. Give it your best shot. Show me where, in the statute, it says that it is illegal for a political party to send someone else a request for an absentee ballot for that person to send in on behalf of himself or herself. Just do your best.

Okay, I read your posting of statutes. I have to agree with CB, a lawyer, as to their meaning.

It is illegal to request an absentee ballot for another. it is NOT illegal to MAIl a person a form for THEM to request an absentee ballot.

It is a felony to interfere with the VOTER REGISTRATION of another person. But that is NOT the same thing as an absentee ballot request.

I also don't see where there is any charge that the voters made false declarations. They just made incomplete ones, but those weren't false, just incomplete.

Also, I have seen nothing that says they got any compensation for any of this. That's another factor -- these things are only violations if there is a benefit for them. Benefit in criminal law means something of monetary value, not just advantage for your candidate.

On the facts as I know them and the statutes you provided, I don't see any crimes.

You may not be familiar with the rule of criminal law. That where there is an ambiguity in the law, it is interpreted in favor of innocence, not guilt.

Please point me to alleged facts that show a violation of law under the statutes you quoted.
