Interesting broader mkt observations from SI member Paul Shread:

"SOX seems to be forming about a 200-point descending triangle here. GE broke its 1998 trendline on a closing basis for the first time last week. Given the broadening top in BA, I'm wondering if there's some ugly warning lurking out there. It's possible these breakdowns could be negated; the SPX needs to get back above 1370 in the next day or two to negate its 94 log trendline breakdown."

Although my take is that we made a ST low last week, we need to see some rally follow through. And the above is a reminder that there are too many risks IMHO to be fully invested yet.

Webster, don't forget cost of decommissioning nuclear plants. Although these costs are estimated and included, if history is any guide, the final bill will probably be much larger. It is really a travesty that the federal government has not come up with a solution for spent power rods. The public in general is not even aware that these are stored on the power plant site. San Onofre is a perfect example, spent fuel rods for 3 nuclear plants, one no longer active, next to upscale San Clemente (where Nixon used to reside), also bordered by the ocean and the freeway connecting San Diego and LA. Can you imagine the logistical problems when the fed finally does inaugurate a storage site - trucks all over the country transporting this stuff through densely populated cities. Scary!

Webster, Please clarify the subsidies. Most stranded costs are disappearing at the ssate utility commission level as generating assets change hands at higher than depreciated book value prices...Convetional power plant liablities- are you referring to return water discharges? Or use of large quantities in a combined cycle plant itself?
