• The canvassing board chairman in Palm Beach County defended the panel's decision to take the Thanksgiving holiday off, even though it meant a failed, round-the-clock race to finish the county's recount. "I really believed we could make it," Judge Charles Burton said Sunday. Harris' rejection of the county's partial recount was "a slap in the face to all these people who spent a lot of time to do it," Burton said with a trace of bitterness.
