barjo, Sorry for the slightly off topic post.

The monitor works best with AMD processors though :-)

<LOL>

As well as everything else.

barjo: Flat panels are coming down in price. The best so far, with highest resolution (1600x1024), can be purchased for $1410

Wow. That's a sweet deal. That definitely settles it - my next monitor will be a flat panel. 17.3" for 1400 bucks... I'm shocked. I wouldn't mind a flat panel TV either... those are (still) incredibly expensive, though. A nice big flat panel TV and a nice Palomino system for the living room. That's my wish for next year ;)

Barjo,

OT

My wife has that monitor (Silicon Graphics flat panel), but I have to say the image quality is mixed at best. Some people love it, some (I) hate it.

My suspicion is that this is the best monitor, but I have not seem it with my own eyes yet: pagecomputer.com

I have to stop by one of the Sony stores to see if it is on display.

<The best so far, with highest resolution (1600x1024), can be purchased for $1410 here>

The SGI screen is the highest resolution (1600x1024) (23mm pitch) but it has only a 9 inch high screen. The Sony has a 16 inch high screen (1280x1024), multi-sync analog interface, but only 28mm pitch. For my bifocal-enhanced eyes I fear I need the size. Pitch is nice but secondary. The Sony works well with the AMD Athlon computers. I will know better first hand next week.
