Paul was also opposed to slave rebellions. Doubtless he would have opposed the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil War and the 13th amendment.

In early Christianity, of course, there was a strong believe in the shortness of time. The Christians apparently refused to help the Jewish Rebellion about 70 AD. The Zealots ended up persecuting many Jewish groups as well as Christians. During the early days of Christianity trying to accommodate to the Roman Empire, their pacificism and other worldly concerns led to the martyrdom of Christian, some of whom were Roman soldiers who converted, and of some civilians who refused to be drafted.
