Jenna -- INTC: I agree on INTC as an attractive long-term play, and I have a lot of respect for Kumar and so take his INTC call seriously. One risk factor to keep an eye on is that AMD has a production delay in its next-gen product and so is slashing prices on its older chips to maintain market share. It's likely that INTC will have to respond with a price cut of its own. (This information came out in a Robinson-Humphries call that was largely overshadowed by Kumar's note.)

I don't think this is necessarily a reason to avoid INTC at these levels -- in fact, I've been sitting on a wad for some time now -- but INTC holders should pay attention to the chatter surrounding the semis to see if there might be a margin squeeze coming. This could give INTC another whack at some point and create an even more attractive buying opportunity. It sure has been strong in recent weeks, though, since its last retest of the 36s. I'll continue holding unless either the chatter or the charts reveal a problem that could signal an earnings warning or a future shortfall.
