Actually, both Broward and Palm Beach counties were counting dimples, however they used very different standards. Broward's was very lax while Palm Beach tried to impose some semblance of objectivity to the process. That's why the Gore campaign is contesting the Palm Beach results--they argue that they should have used a much looser dimple standard as the more pliant Broward board did.

I think that's correct, Broward was counting dimples, Palm Beach was not. But the Dems did succeed in having a judge in Palm Beach order them to at least look at the dimples to see if they could discern the intent of the voter. My understanding is that Palm Beach did LOOK at dimples but for the most part decided that they could not discern the intent of the voter from dimples.
