And do not forget that, unless an election is close, absentee ballots are not counted. For that reason alone, I will not believe that Gore won the popular vote.

That's easy. Votes are not counted all the time - they are statistical anamolies that would not change the outcome. In this case these uncounted votes COULD change the outcome. In this case we need to verify that the will of the people is being carried out. Closing out eyes to it is wrong.
