dbf, >Well, I just called my local Best Buy. The PC department guy said that HP P4s were available (order only, not in stock) and that there was NO RECALL.

Your FUD-rating just keeps going up and up and up...

Thank for posting that. You know, what with even Internet message board posters getting sued, I'm careful with what I post. There are some, howsomever, that don't seem to care.

Dbf - RE: "Well, I just called my local Best Buy. The PC department guy said that HP P4s were available (order only, not in stock) and that there was NO RECALL."

I went to Best Buy on Saturday and was told they DID receive P4 systems, but they were sent back because they were defective. I didn't ask which OEM's system it was. The guy DID say you could order one build to order, but that was the only way.

I also went to CompUSA and asked about P4 systems. The guy had an open, 1.4GHz HP P4 system they were setting up for display. I asked if there was any problem with the systems and he said the Compaq P4 systems had to be sent back because they wouldn't even boot up. He said the HP P4 system also had problems either booting up or just running, but his store was allowed to open up and patch each system in the store rather than having to send them back. They were allowed to do this because he said they are "HP certified" or something like that.

You are mistaken or fabricating your alleged conversation. Best Buy now has the same information posted on their web site.
