Chris,

The point is that votes would have been counted and completed if the Bush team and the Florida Secretary of State hadn't put up hurdles... The Bush team has done a good job of spinning this thing as recount after recount...but the fact remains that some recounted votes were still ignored by the Sec of State, that votes in Miami-Dade were not counted - I think 10,000 of them.. and that the Republican's pulled some shenanigans (apparently but I'm not clear on this) with the absentee votes. And what happened to those votes in Nassau??? Just disappeared. We know - FACT - that there are votes place yet not accounted for ..... it is fact! How can we as a nation close our eyes to the will of the people?

Requesting hand recounts would have been inconsistent with that, and he at least has had the virtue of consistency in his position, whatever you may think of it.

In other words, Bush boxed himself into a corner.

The other factor would be that he did what he felt he had to do - filing the numerous lawsuits - to fight the manual recount so that he could hold onto his slim lead and grab a victory.

In a nutshell.

So far not one of you has dared approach or answer these questions. Why is that?

This is a sincere and sincerely-curious question:
Doesn't it bother anyone at all that Bush has tried to prevent (successfully to date) all votes from being counted in order to win?

This is a sincere and sincerely-curious question:
Are Republicans truly pleased and satisfied that Bush is currently the certified winner rather than the fully vote-verified winner?

As an American (not as a Republican or a Democrat), it scares the hell out of me that anyone can possibly 'win' an election by preventing votes from being counted.
