only if its a republican administration ? If its democratic, the VP-candidate would have to give up his Senate seat ? which might be filled by a republican ?

Looks to me that either way, GOP wins in the Senate.

It would be the current Senate that selected the next president if the Electoral College tied, wouldn't it? So it would not be 50/50.
