Frank, I am in the same boat. My provider is Verio who mostly sells SDSL lines to various size busineses and home offices, and I too have a separate line. According to COVD, if I read the news correctly, separate lines will be a thing of the past, at least for residential DSL. My friend, who received VZ DSL service, was a self install sharing the same voice line.

Listen carefully, there is a substantial doubt and unknown in the tone....this is what makes a stock CHEAP and SPECULATIVE.....a good entry point if you beleive.

Frank,

I have ADSL and they insisted over my husbands objections to install a new line instead of sharing one of the existing ones. The VZ tech agreed with us that he didn't understand why they did it this way, but this is what they tell him to so he has to do it this way. Meanwhile I still have my extra telephone line that I used as a dedicated line when I was using a regular modem. I haven't taken it out yet thinking that maybe I might want to keep it for the future just in case extra lines are hard to come by.

Now, it frequently has to work with phone companies to run an extra phone line to a subscriber's home or office; in the future it will only provide DSL service over customers' existing phone lines. That arrangement, called "line sharing," saves the company $10 to $12 a month for each subscriber, said analyst Langner.
