Bush chose not to ask for recounts thinking Harris could stop all recounts before they happened. A big miscalculation, but afterall he was ahead. Or maybe there was a reasojn he didn't want recounts where the GOP had been a little too aggressive like in Seminole and Duval counties.

Bush had the opportunity to ask for recounts in several states where the count was very close, but chose not to do so

So did Gore. If Gore really means it when he says he wants ALL of the votes to be counted why did he only ask to have them counted in selected democratic counties? He looked us straight in the eye and said it makes no difference who wins as long as ALL of the votes are counted. It sounds like hypocrisy to me.
