A top official of the Venezualan CB recently made the same point I have been making of years -- if the CBs were to cut gold lending that in itself would hike POG considerably. So not all the CBs want to banish gold from the monetary system. And we have a statement from the horse's mouth so to speak that the main purpose of gold lending is to suppress POG and not to earn the pathetic 1% rate of interest they get on these loans.

Clearly the US and those who take US orders want to forever banish gold from the monetary system. But the days of total US international dominance seem to be waning as more and more countries are directly defying the US policy on Iraq.

If US international dominance declines as I expect over the next few years, gold could really surprise on the upside.
