Good link. From the first link, only 25 counties in Florida use punch cards. That's why Bush didn't want a state wide recount. The vast majority of punch cards are used in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. The punch cards are the gold mines of the undervote. Gore really is getting screwed out of the Presidency, and that's not just a platitude.

Can't find the actual mechanics of a ballot counting machine. Some are optical in the method used, but in the Votomatic & Datavote punch cards I can't find that out or how they are propelled though the machine. Here is a bit of information.

fec.gov
