<<If you consider far left democrats as being the most liberal and the point that separates a democrat from a republican as a line then I would consider myself as being as close to the line as possible, a very conservative democrat. Why did you republicans have to nominate someone like Wimp in your primary? It wouldn't have taken much for me to have voted for a republican over Gore. Bush didn't measure up.
Zonkie on this we agree. I am not overly enthused about GW. I am not so sure that anyone here is but I won't speak for others. However Gore scares me. Turning technology over to the Chinese whether intentionally or though incompetence is simply unacceptable. You mentioned the ending of the cold war. There was an incredible cost to this nation to develop the technology that led to the downfall of the Soviet empire. We have heard over and over of the costs that fall at the feet of the Reagan years.
What is really sad and is a true slap in the face to the tax payers of this country is to allow this advantage to be handed over for some paltry campaign contributions. We spent a vast fortune to achieve this advantage. It takes an artist a long time to paint a work of beauty. It takes years to grow a garden that enthralls the eyes of a small child (when little children see my garden they say its like a fairy tale). However destroying is easy. Walk into my yard and what took years to create can be destroyed in less than an hour. An arson can end the hopes, dreams and memories of many with one small match.
On just this reason alone once can side with the Republicans. I am not sure that many Democrats ever considered the Soviets evil.
And by the way Greenspan is given plenty of credit for this economy by the Wall Street Journal.President Clinton also get his fair share of praise as well from the same publication. Remember that Democrats tend to favour trial lawyers and thus are often at battle with big business. Sometimes justifiably but often foolishly. The government spent hundreds of millions suing IBM unsuccessfully but in the process transferred tax payer dollars to enrich the pockets of lawyers. In the end a little bumpkin named Gates did what all the might of Washington couldn't do. It ended IBM's so-called monopoly. Here's to freedom. May it ever live in this country !!!!
