Re: Gore won by that much (300,000 votes) in NY. By extrapolation, you can say Gore won NY and Bush won in all the other states combined... now is that too hard?"

I think it's hilarious the way the Repubs have tried to legitimize and rationalize the most unexpected results that came out on Nov. 8.

First we got The Map. "See!" the Republicans said. "We won most of the real estate."

Now you're saying, "See! Take away New York and the mandate was clear."

The fact of the matter is, my friend, that more than half of the people in the country voted against GWB.

Let's say it again: GWB is second banana in a two-banana race.

If that is a mandate to govern, then I'm missing something.

GWB realizes he has no mandate. He has been hiding the past three weeks at his secluded Austin ranch. He looks scared and unsure (unlike Cheney) when he gets in front of the camera. He realizes he has (1) no mandate from the American people and (2) still has a big debt to repay to the religious right.

This could be a most troubling presidency for the American people. Most troubling.
