No one has ever done this to my satisfaction. IMO, it cannot be done.
I requires an open mind to see through the slogans and parables. If you could, the first thing you would notice is that the similarities are greater than the differences. The second thing you will notice is that others will make a lot of money off things they tell you are principles.

That's a great analogy. Like you, I cannot understand the Democratic model. The Democrats derive their power from the complaining, undesirable element of society. They feel sorry for themselves and outraged when they see someone else who happens to be successful. They don't understand what it takes to succeed, nor do they care. They just want what the successful person has. They do not understand the concept of conservatism. They do not understand that being prudent, modest, and living below their means is the only way to succeed, unless of course they were born into the success to begin with. They want instant gratification, and the Democratic party gives that to them in exchange for their votes.
