This is a fallacy, actually. In truth, Nixon is on record saying that he did not contest the election because he had lost the popular vote, which in Gore's case is not true.

Before you bash me, know that I do not support either candidate.

GE, Welch vs Gore: The only difference is that for GE the $100 doesn't mean anything, the $12Billion does. In this case the 10Mill votes don't mean anything the 100 votes do. The stakes are huge -- the most important job in the world -- unlike the impact of $100.
