But seriously, I know the RNC [and DNC, for the matter,] are tough operators, but hiring Rev Al would require more brain than the usual plumber trick :). But then, I could be wrong. Evidently, fromherald.com GOP congressional aides took part in recount confrontation Two of the Republican protesters who stormed the Elections Department at Miami-Dade County Hall last week are aides to top Republican leaders in Congress. Elizabeth Ross, who works for Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss., and Thomas Pyle, who works for House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, R-Texas, both participated in the raucous demonstration on the 19th floor of County Hall. ... Republicans deny the protest was planned, but they acknowledge the volunteers were in town as a result of a well-organized effort by the party and the Bush campaign. They say the Democrats mounted a similar effort, with similar results. ``We asked people to volunteer and were very warmly received, said Terry Holt, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee. Holt said the Republican Party and the Bush campaign recruited volunteers via email to come to Florida to observe recounts in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. In some cases, Holt said, the campaign agreed to pay for travel expenses: ``For people who had to travel a great distance and for people who for various reasons could not afford it, we were able to pick up a portion of the expenses. Emily Miller, a spokeswoman for DeLay, said four people from her office came to Florida as volunteers. Anyway, one of the cheesy teevee shows I watch occasionally is "Earth, the Final Conflict." In it, the stormtroopers {dressed in black attire] are referred to as "volunteers." <VBG>! However, the best part of this article is the following Republicans disputed a report in the Wall Street Journal on Friday that said Congressman John Sweeney, R-New York, played a key role in that protest. Columnist Paul A. Gigot wrote that Sweeney ``told an aide to `shut it down and semi-spontaneous combustion took over. Sweeney and his aides did not respond to telephone calls on Monday. Don't you love it when Mr Gigot overspan <VBG>?! And I wonder what does "semi-spontaneous" really mean? Maybe I will file the expression with its kindred like "overkill" and "very unique" ROTFLMAO! best, Bosco
