kvk... just want to point out (as i love to do) that it would make sense that urban areas have more handgun murders. They have a lot more people. Not that I don't see the point you are trying to make.

Just as a hypothetical... would you oppose stricter gun laws in metropolitan centers?

Yes. Plenty of gun nuts reside in my neck of the woods. I work with some. Believe me, the emphasis is on the word "nuts" and not "gun."

Re: "Aren't urban areas the leaders in handgun murders every year?" God, you're smart.

I would also point out that urban areas are trying to curb senseless gun violence through the use of gun buyback programs and the like, but such common-sense tactics are being stonewalled by Charlatan Heston and his band.

So on one hand we have people who are the victims of gun violence, those who live in the inner city, who are crying for help. And on the other hand we have the white-suburban Republican Party telling them to "shove it."

And people wonder why Jesse Jackson continues to be a force in America. It's his message, stupid.

Good point. This is another area that drives the two sides apart. The carnage going on in the inner cities is COMPLETELY unbelievable imo. I accidently drove through the Cabrini Green (sp?) area of Chicago one time in the middle of the day and it shocked (and scared) the hell out of me. It was like a surreal world of trash and filth mixed in with little boys polishing the wheels on a few very flashy cars. Looked and felt very dangerous, particularly to a skinny white boy like me.

I'm rambling, but my point is that instead of trying to fix this situation the demos would rather posture it as a problem that too many people have guns. I take big time offense to the notion that my 2nd ammendment RIGHT to own a firearm to PROTECT MY FAMILY is why black people are killing each other at a annual rate greater than deaths in the Vietnam war. I think it is TigerPaw that keeps saying that GOP = white urban gun nuts. This argument is fed and nurtured by the democratic party, and IT IS SICK.
