Both the Republican and Democratic attorneys were in attendance at all times according to all the reports I have seen and heard. I think when you say "unsupervised" is suggests that the press needs to be in attendance.. which would be great but there wasn't enough room - again that's my understanding. HOWEVER, the plan wasn't for three demo's to go squirell off in a corner and count votes.. Lawyers were present.

Why not? The Rep can always peacefully challenge their recount. Just like Gore is now doing.
