I wonder how committed DoCoMo remains to the early W-CDMA launch - wouldn't it be more profitable to wring out everything they can from iMode?

I think it probably depends on the extent to which Docomo is capacity constrained. There have been numerous reports of this but it is tough to tell how bad the situation really is.

Also, it is hard to imagine Docomo willing to allow J-Phone to be the first company to launch W-CDMA services. Unless J-Phone backed off their schedule (which is pretty aggresive), I think Docomo will continue to try and get W-CDMA functioning as quickly as possible.

If W-CDMA is delayed, I think it will be more due to a lack of handsets than a lack of comittment by Docomo.
