As the two stood in the snow, making the case for Bradley within
earshot of a rally for the vice president, pro-Gore
demonstrators surrounded them.

"Go home, fatso," one of the Gore brownshirts yelled at the
rotund congressman.

"Get outta here, you cripple," another heckler taunted Kerrey,
after kicking mud on the senator.

Though Gore pit bull Chris Lehane was spotted just feet away as
the ugly moment transpired, two days later the vice president
protested he hadn't heard a word about it.

Reporters on the scene said the husband of Gov. Jean Shaheen,
who headed up Gore efforts in New Hampshire, was in the middle
of the crowd that attacked Nadler and Kerrey.

Somehow Congressman Nadler missed "the whiff of fascism" that
animated Gore supporters that day. Needless to say, the vice
president never apologized for the actions of his supporters.

My problem is that I lost my good sense and spoke to someone whom I should have realized was irrational.
My mistake. Sorry.
