I infer that from the ordinary meaning of the text:" The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed", along with the militia reference, where one is expected to provide one's own rifle. (I am a strict constructionist). Also, although I do not know the ins and outs, courts have disallowed private ownership, except under exemptions, of automatic weapons, tanks, grenades, and the like.

I think even the NRA agrees with some limitations. I seem to recall that the objection to the Brady bill was not constitutional, but practical, that it was an unfunded mandate that local enforcement agencies did not have the resources to fulfill. I would have to refresh my memory about where they are drawing the line, in any event.

I understand the point, I just thought I would help move things along by noting a discriminatory rationale.
