>>>Did you notice that the state law that allows for recounts has a time limit? Why is that so hard for you to understand? You omit that law every time you post.<<<

Apparently, you haven't been reading what I've been writing.
1) Tuesday election.

2) 72 hours to request a hand recount in counties of choice.

3) Friday: Deadline on requesting hand recount. Gore complied asking for hand recounts in four heavily populaced counties which used antiquated voting machines with as high as a five percent error rate. Bush declined his rights under this deadline.

4) Friday: 1.5 to 1.7 million votes need hand recounting.

5) Friday: Ambassador-elect Katherine Harris, as Floridian secretary of state, says all results must be in by Tuesday leaving a cloud covering over the canvassing boards, the cloud being the impossibility of meeting that deadline.

6) A Legislature cannot have a law on the statutues for which compliance is impossible. The Tuesday deadline, as dictated and demanded by Harris, was impossible for three of the four largest counties--Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade--to comply.

7) The Florida state law which included the language "shall" was amended to include "may" thereby providing the secretary of state with discretion as to whether to accept what would obviously become late recounts. It was physically, logistically and emotionally impossible for these three counties to comply with Harris' self-imposed deadline.

8) Republican participants in the recount challenged every sixth vote thereby making the pile of votes needing canvassing board scrutiny extremely large, thereby delaying the process. This coupled with lawsuits and other delaying tactics, including intimidation, threats of more lawsuits, character challenges, etc., etc. further served to delay the process.

9) Not all of the votes, requested by Gore, as prescribed by Florida law, have been hand recounted.

Srexley, perhaps you should reconsider what you just wrote!
