Dan,

are you saying the following with respect to the PC segment, or the web/enterprise, in other words, server environment segment?

>>Strictly desktop PC and workgroup scale servers (including low end web servers). I see INTC's commanding lead unaffected in large (the most profitable) servers, and little affected (or completely unaffected) in the notebook space.

I can't argue a whole lot with that except to say that, because of my experience on the OEM side, I know that the OEMs have a long and profitable venture going with Intel. This is not just Intel as a CPU chip vendor, but also with chipsets, mainboards, chassis and even servers where the OEM need only slap on their appearance package and boot the thing. Intel can get a whole lot of server business going in a hurry for most anybody. 'Twill be hard for anybody to get a foot in the door even at the workgroup server level. Nothing is impossible, but I don't see it for a good year and a half, and even then I wouldn't bet on it. Maybe the whitebox guys, possibly a Gateway, but not any of the big 4. Hey, big 4, Pentium 4, good match.
