To: lawdog who wrote (92080 ) 11/28/2000 7:30:11 PM From: PartyTime Respond to of 769670 Yes, Bush is rapidly demonstrating a pattern of: 1) Instead of squaring with the American public, he hid behind his voting-aged children who, according to his excuse, he didn't want to know 24 years ago he got convicted in court for a DUI. Geez, whatta working class families go through in their day to day realms of life? Is Bush really that special? Didn't his voting-aged children, as voters, have a right to know about what he did illegally 24 years ago? Would having informed them really have wrecked his family? Did daddy really have to be so perfect? Hey, he said publicly he was drinking heavily once in his life. Bad things come from drinking. Fact is Bush had a responsibility to inform all voters, including his voting age children, that he'd been convicted of DUI 24 years ago. Well, er, actually, maybe he didn't want his kids to know Dick Cheney had two similar convictions. Me? I think it's more likely he didn't wanna send the press in that direction 'cause there's likely more scandal in his background and he figures, if president, like Clinton, he'll be able to ride it out when it gets discovered. Oh, well. Right now I guess it's moot as there are more important things on the table. 2) Bush ony wants to communicate with friendly and favorable press. He was all set to walk into election day having provided the public only with teleprompter-type speeches, Q&A's in only friendly pat-on-the-back GOPwinger gatherings, pundit analyst spinners ad nauseum and millions of dollars of television commercials, a few winks and blinks and some really great camera-ready smiles. All of this, of course, after he lowered the bar as low as it'd go for the presidential debates which were so lame I think I, or anyone else who took a civics course in high school, could have skated past. His last press conference prior to his DUI flap was the second week of September. So what'd the public get? "Gee. He looks like such a nice, friendly man and his daddy was president. Maybe I'll vote for him." Add into this Bush's stealing of Gore's issues for middle ground public consumption, the fact he never mentioned anything about Republican Party Platform issues and his distortive campaign to get the fated whisper going in American lunchrooms that Gore's a liar and he said he invented the Internet. Guess what? There's every good reason to vote for Bush. How come I didn't vote for him? 3) Afraid of a vote count in some of Florida's economically strapped communities, Bush wants the presidency without counting ALL votes, using legalistic groin kicks and stall tactics in order to prevent Florida's electoral process from coming into complete fruition. To make matters worse, he lost the national popular vote! Folks, please do forgive my indelicate remark: Bush = Big-Time Jerkism!
