>>>The Bushies are really afraid to have those ballots from Dade County looked at by impartial judges.<<<<

If a reasonable person were to look at an IBM card ballot which has been rejected by the counting machine (and therefore has been uncounted) to try and ascertain what the voters intent was when he voted there are many things that would be have to be considered. Using the word reasonable makes 70% of republicans ineligible for this task.

If the rejected card has the name George Bush written on it it is a legally cast ballot which should count as a vote for George Bush. The same is true for his opponent. This is one example of a ballot which the republicans say has been counted but in reality has not.

Hanging chads and all other partially punched ballots are also legal votes which should be counted for the candidate for which the voter intended but which also may have been rejected by the counting machine. These are also legally cast votes.

A dimpled chad ballot is in all probability an attempt to vote for a candidate. It may or may not have one of the corners broken loose from the card. One thing a reasonable person would have to take into consideration is how long the card been stored and how it was stored since the election. If it has not been in a pile with thousands of other ballots then the ballot is probably in about the same condition as when the voter was voting. In this case a tiny dimple might be construed as not being an attempt to vote. If the ballot has been in a stack with thousands of other ballots for several weeks it has the effect of smoothing out and erasing evidence of what otherwise would be an obvious attempt to cast a vote. These cards are like a wadded up piece of paper that has been placed in a book for an extended period of time and therefore appears to have never been wadded up at all. We have reached a period in time when the ballots have had so much pressure placed on them that it will be harder than ever to decide if the voter made an attempt to vote. If the ballots which have never been counted in Dade county are ever counted I think any dimple should be counted.

When I saw the hand recounts going on on TV I noticed that there were people watching the recount. These people were almost all partisans of one of the two major parties. We now know that the Bush campaign paid people to watch the recounts to disrupt the proceedings and object to everything they could so as to prolong the count and thwart the canvassing boards ability to meet the deadline for turning in results. They were also paid to keep votes for Gore from counting. Several of them were ejected from the proceedings. I heard things like don't bend it said over and over. Bending an IBM card will not make a chad fall out unless the chad has been partially punched previously. There may be a one in a million chance of a chad falling out when a card is bent even though it was never touched by a stylus. This would be a random event and any chads that fell out would have an equal chance of becoming a vote for any candidate on the ballot.

There probably have already been enough legal votes overlooked by the canvassing board in Plam Beach county which, if counted and turned in on time, would have given the election to who we all know would be the rightful winner in the presidential election if the voters intent was known.

When they count the ballots in Dade I hope they take into consideration what the effect of being pressed for 3 weeks has had on the ballots. If it's a vote for Bush, count it, if it's a vote for Gore, count it, just count the damn votes.

In that pile of over 10,000 ballots in Dade county there could easily be 8,000 cards on which a voter made an attempt to vote. Many of these won't be counted because of the pressing effect which I mentioned before. Many won't be counted because it is up to each canvassing boards to set their own criteria as to what constitutes an attempt to vote. I just hope that Bush operatives are finally frustrated in their illegal but so far successful attempts to keep America from learning the results of the election in Floriduh.
