By the time the Fed recognizes that rates need to be lower, I think falling earnings will have cast a shadow over the market. Earnings may continue to fall after a Fed rate decrease, because the impact of Fed rate changes takes 5-6 months to be fully accommodated by the economy. I don't see prices moving up consistently until earnings expectations begin to rise which will probably trail any Fed reduction by several months.
