Some are saying that the onslaught of weakness you are expecting is going to be so severe that the Fed might cut rates right in December.

GZ, in the good old days one could always depend on the retail investor to buy the dip and kick-start a recovery. Now they have figured out how to short its just another negative for the market !!. It seems that the momentum players have moved to the dark side !. As I stated on another thread, with the economy slowing, inventory build-up & channel stuffing last qtr, cap-ex reductions ... and such strong earnings comparisons coming into play, its difficult to get too fundamentally excited about tech. Add to that the analysts not getting the inside track on whats happening and the fact that holding a tech stock through earnings warning season can seriously damage ones wealth if anybody in its sector warns or misses, I think there's a bunch of asset reallocations going on which is helping to support the DJIA but killing tech. Month-end window dressing means selling tech before month-end this time!!

We could get a trading rally out of an FOMC change in bias in December ... but I'm not looking for anything more. I saw some money being put to work today, but the selling continued. I would like to start some positions for a long term portfolio ... so may start to average in - though whilst we may have a rally or two, I don't expect anything decent till January... and we could of course fall further in the meantime.

Anyway ... as my Granny used to say ... 'it'll all come out in the wash'..... whatever that means ... LOL

Good luck (to all of us!)& best regards

Stephen

Chart pattern on SPX looks to me quite like the October 98 bottom. What do you think?

Hi GZ,

That really makes a lot of sense.

By the way since you are local, could you take that over to the local judges and straighten this mess up.<please?

You would no doubt become a national hero.
