Big win for ENTG......Entegris Awarded Follow-On Order From Sony Computer Entertainment's Fab 2
Advanced carriers and pods to be used in manufacture of Graphics Synthesizer® for PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system
CHASKA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 2000-- Entegris Inc., the materials integrity management company, today announced that it has received a large follow-on order for M200 SMIF pods and KA200 STAT-PRO® 3000 carriers from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.'s (SCEI) Fab 2, currently under construction in Nagasaki, Japan. Entegris pods and carriers will be used to supply SCEI's newest Fab 2 200 mm fab in Japan. Delivery of the follow-on order is slated for December 2000.
For its purchasing decision, SCEI established stringent performance criteria for the carriers and pods with a key determining factor being outgassing - specifically molecular contamination. Entegris' advanced STAT-PRO 3000 carrier as well as the M200 pod demonstrated minimal outgassing - vital in meeting SCEI's molecular contamination requirement and critical for SCEI's technology roadmap for manufacturing smaller geometry devices.

``This order is significant because the rigorous testing to qualify our wafer handling products for an increasingly smaller device geometry process demonstrates Entegris' material handling leadership and our ability to meet the fab's demanding production ramp-up,'' said Dave Ring, president of Entegris' microelectronics group. ``SCEI required high-quality products with fast turnaround. Our products were the only ones to meet SCEI's materials integrity management requirements as well as ramp schedules.''
