In 8 years there are opportunties to appoint several justices. If I remember correctly I don't think Jimmy Carter appointed any justices.

There's a big difference between the Florida supremes who have trial lawyer backgrounds and are subject to re-election, and the US Supremes who are more academic and lifetime appointments.

I've have no idea what will happen on Friday, hopefully there some clarification or guidance otherwise Gore will keep throwing up stuff.
