I'm not doing handhelds - where more functions are on the required list - and power is a real concern, but the concept to "working" prototype could easily take 6 months. Most likely it would be north of that - 12-18 months.

Handhelds have graphic screen - OK, maybe just alpha/numeric , power section, RF part, flash memory, a DSP and some RISC or micro, software etc. Lots of i's to dot and t's to cross to get it "right".

INTC/ADI has been very tight lipped about the product. Somebody must be giving the marketing people a requirements list - power spec's, MIPs etc. You do not build it and hope they will come. "Customers" must have had to sign non-disclosure because not much is out in public. Early looks at archicture and features is a must -- get some early interest to get production orders rollin in.
