I've been watching the meter pretty closely. They racked up 650,000 items just today. If we figure an average of 700,000 items/day between now and Dec. 21st, they should exceed 40 million items for the quarter (30 million for Nov 2 - Dec 21st, plus 10 million for the rest of December and October.)

They average at least $25 per item, so $1 billion is a given. Throw in $50 million on top of the tally for gift wrap. Now it's a matter of just how far into 10 digits they get.

Sorry to barge in, specially on a question directed explicitly to some one else, but the Delight-o-Meter suggests there is a Xmas rush @ Amazon and that they will achieve $1 billion in sales for this quarter...

I am not sure one could gleen much from that meter. I will not dispute a $billion is sales. However, marketing expenses appear to be running far higher that I believe are in most analyst's projections.
