King Fredster, you called it. The Visiontech acquisition is a bad deal. BRCM is going to try to run an Israeli-based encoder R&D center and an India-based decoder R&D center from Orange County? The big companies can do it but I don't think that BRCM is there yet. Part of the key to their past design success is that everyone is in one place and willing to work 18 hour days. This efficiency is lost when you spread out over 3 continents. Some will say you can gain efficiency when you work 24 hours/day across the globe but -- even with the internet -- it just ain't the same when you're not all in the same place.
