Joe - RE: "When Mike Magee was around, we always got the actual prices."

Here are some prices xbitlabs got -

" Oct 29 Dec 10
750 $193 $173
733 $183 $173
700 $183 $153
667 $163 $153
650 $163 $143
600 $143 x

However, according to the info we received today, not only these CPUs will get cheaper, but also some Celeron CPUs as well. Moreover, even the younger Pentium 4 processor will get cheaper as well. Note that on 10 December 1.4GHz Pentium 4 will cost not $644 but $574 (in 1000-piece quantities)."

Not much of a price drop for the PIIIs. With the 1.4GHz P4 price drop it looks like Intel is trying to push the P4 out of the high-end and into the midrange. I wonder if Intel will come out with a 1.6GHz P4 that day, and if so whether AMD will paper launch 1.3GHz. I hope the latter doesn't happen...
