"Given the recent poor price action exhibited from the equity market plus the rally in fixed income instruments, Fed Fund futures are signaling a potential rate cut. The probability of a quarter-point rate cut is high, but only if the market is expecting the cut not to happen until April.

"These figures could fluctuate a great deal in front of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting that is set for December 19. The employment report (December 8), Producer Price Index (December 14), and the Consumer Price Index (December 15) reports will be vital to the Fed's decision in altering their bias and thus impacting Fed Fund futures implied rates."
