Very simple situation big picture the past few weeks.
Gore has tried to use his legal rights for recounts to overtake Bush. Bush with the help of his florida cronies has done everything to stop the counting. Both sides perfectly understandable and totally selfish. What else? Why criticize either side? They'd each do the same as the other if their positions were switched. Bush will be damn lucky to pull this out if Gore cannot come up with a court victory and 500+ new votes quickly. The votes are there probaboly but can he get them? Not too likely.

Seeing as how Bush lost the general vote he might be the first president since Rutherford B. Hayes to get in as the actual loser. But he doesn't care. The power and prestige of the White House is too big a plum to have scruples about going after and even "legally stealing" if necessary. So long as the Supreme Courts don't bitch-slap Harris again and stop him Bush will gladly claim victory and Gore will have only the wounded pride of knowing he won the general vote by 300,000 and pulled out all the close battleground states except for the big one. Ouch for Gore. Whew for Bush. Or maybe the other way around if there's a surprise in the works. But what could it be? Seminole County? Miami Dade? Palm beach isn't quite enough to give Gore the needed margin. Forget all the whining about old ladies and military ballots and all the rest of the BS. This is strictly a court battle now and if Bush wins one more round it's over. We all have headaches over this but the suspense is real. I expect Bush to get a ride to the White House thanks to Ms. Harris and a few hundred votes but maybe not. Maybe not. The main reason I want this damn election ovre now is so my stocks will go up. We should see the biggest short-term rally in history once this is settled I think. Probably keep going up for weeks until we hit a short-term top. All you rich Republicans buy away. Oil, tobacco and drugs. gg (actually I'd buy techs)

Funny, as a Gore supporter I find myself with mixed feelings about him winning. There will be little glory and not even that much power involved in winning this election. Even if Gore wins I won't cheer. This mess has split the nation more than ever before and I have never believed the BS that Bush is a unifier. On the contrary IMHO. Makes most people wish Clinton could stay on. And who knows, maybe he'll be back in four years. Is that legal? (and I'm not talking Hillary)
