Well, i'm a little disappointed ... i thought you'd flip out on me and that would take your mind off the Liberal guvmint and you'd feel better -g- .... i have no position on this, never thought about it much.

What you say is true of course but then it has been true of all taxes ... certainly for income taxes which were brought in strictly to pay for the War To End All Wars ... but that is a separate question, how the cash is used ... a question on which i suspect we are not too far apart, fwiw ... but there will be taxes under any system, so - how do you raise them.

A carbon tax wouldn't necessarily work to the detriment of the oil patch, it needn't be another NEP at all .... fuel is cheap cheap cheap in this country - try driving around the UK, you'll find it a lot easier to get used to the wrong side of the road than the price of petrol, believe me ... i have a beer beside me [well, duh] - it's 95% water, it's less than half a litre, and it cost me more than a US dollar .... ok, you will say, 'but that's due to the taxes on it' ... well, yeah, sure ... exactly.
