GOP protesters at Gephardt's local office carry signs taunting Gore and Democrats
By Eric Stern
Of the Post-Dispatch

More than 200 protesters
picketed Tuesday outside the
district office of Rep. Richard
A. Gephardt, D-south St.
Louis County, demanding
that the congressman press
Vice President Al Gore to give
up the presidential race.

"The Democrats seem to
think they own protesting,"
said Caryln Fox, 57, of
Ladue. "We're not just sitting
back yelling at the TV."

Fox held a sign that read: "Al Gore you are president of Fantasy Island"
and encouraged him to get a job at McDonald's.

That drew a chuckle from fellow protester Ginny McCook, 53, of Town
and Country, who owns five of the fast-food restaurants.

"Our people are much more qualified," she said.

Democrats join calls for Gore to concede

Opinion polls in the US show the public are becoming
increasingly tired with the prolonged Presidential
election and want Al Gore to throw in the towel.

Some leading Democrats are saying in public for the
first time that enough is enough.

Gene Taylor, a Democratic Representative from
Mississippi, says he will vote for Republican George W
Bush if the election gets thrown into the House of
Representatives, a possibility if neither candidate has
secured a majority of the electoral votes by January 6.

Mr Taylor's top aide, Wayne Weidie, said: "We have
probably been getting a couple of hundred e-mails,
calls, faxes and letters a day - and 98% of them are
pro-Bush and want Gore to give it up."

Mr Taylor said: "I will vote the way the majority of my
constituents in the Fifth Congressional District voted.
And in this case, Governor Bush carried the district."

Charles Stenholm, a Democratic Representative from
Texas, said, "More and more people, Democrats as
well as Republicans, are calling saying it's getting time
to end it."

He says Gore is doing his best in his PR blitz - three
TV appearances in 24 hours - but is failing to sway
voters.

Kenneth, I'd like to ask you a question, please.

What is it that you want Al Gore to do in the event he becomes president? What are the important issues to you personally that you would want him to address if he becomes president?

Thanks,

TLC

Standing firm for due process is conduct unbecoming to a Presidential candidate? You do have such unique concepts.

Kenneth

The country wants President elect Bush, not the pretender. Gore will NEVER be accepted after this charade. Even Hillary is looking good after viewing Gore close up in action. Now I see why his own state did not want him. Unlike much of the country, they know him for what he is.
